Default 5th gen newb here

Hi, My name is Brandon. I'm from Oklahoma and I'm 20 years old.
I've recently become the proud new owner of a 94 honda civic ex coupe.
Cars that I have owned in the past included a 91 chevy corsica, 86 honda accord lxi, 92 chevy corsica, 89 honda accord lxi, 92 eagle talon, 91 chevy caprice, and now of course the 94 honda a civic ex. I'm looking into going
to school for either mobile electronics installation, or automotive technology.
I haven't decided yet, So for now I'm just working and livin life, etc...
I hope my new adventures with the civic are nothing like what I experienced with my last car. It was a 92 eagle talon with a n/t mitsu 4g63 6 bolt.
The timing belt broke leaving me with 4 broken valves and a damaged piston.
I hope the civic doesn't have anything go wrong with it like that. I have
faith that it won't. The 3rd gen accords that I have owned never had any major issues like that. Hondas are good reliable, quality cars. I think the biggest issue was with the 86 accord needing a new transmission, and that was only because it was an automajic.
Well, here's a pic of my new baby, I know the taillights have gotta go,
I want to change them to oem. I've gotta fix the tent on the rear quarter windows, and wash and wax, etc...

A little info about the civic : All stock except for aem cold air intake, apexi cat back exhaust,
tokico hp shocks/springs that give it a 1.5" drop and gsr "fat five" 15" wheels.

Uh, the timing belt needs to be maintained. Change it every 105,000 miles on your Civic. And just because it's a Honda doesn't mean you don't have to do scheduled maintenance. Nice mods on it, though lose the taillights and get some Si imitation taillights on ebay.

I agree with trust si imitation lights look the cleanest. And maybe paint the side skirt.

I know timing belts need to be maintained, However timing belts and tensioners on dsm's have to be replaced every 60,000 miles. I think that's rediculous. dsm's require a LOT of maintenance. I've heard of more timing belts breaking and destroying engines in the dsm world than
in the honda world. one of the most common things with mitsubishi 4g63's is broken timing belts. I was gonna go with oem tails, but the Si imitations look good too. And yes, I know I have to paint the sideskirts. Also, the previous owner thought it would be cool to put 6th gen bumper covers on the car. The rear looks ok, but the front has got to go. I'll be ordering a new oem bumper
and a lip for it soon .

nice car man I really like this gen of civic so good choice on that lol ;P yes change the tailights out and wash that thing! Eagle talons are a pain sometimes my friend used to own one of the awd and had nothing but trouble with the turbo and the driveline parts (awd) so hopefully this car will work well for you and thats quite a list of previously owned cars considering your 20, I am 20 and my list goes something like 2002 civic sedan( crashed it), 1994 civic cx hatch. lol and when i first got my license I drove my dad's jeep for a while he's got a 2004 toyota tundra now though. good luck

welcome, nice little mods to start out with. you will get a reliable civic with proper maintenance. oem tails for 94 civic shouldn't be too expensive

Thanks guys, dsm's can be a P.I.T.A, but I've seen lots of 1st and 2nd gen
eclipses/talons pushing 400-500whp on stock internals, and up to 1000whp when fully built right. They just require too much maintenance. I like my little civic, plus I'm not looking to have 500+hp, or go 150mph.
