Default any advice?

I have a couple of questions. Im not really sure what i should do with my 90 civic hatchback. I currently have a d series motor in it with blown piston rings and i wanted to swap the whole engine out and put in a b series motor but i dont knwo if i would be able to smog it or how hard it would be to? I would rather not rebuild the engine i already have cause there is little to no power as i would like it to be? I dont know what is the best way around this problem or what i should do so its cost effective but also get some pretty good amount of power and horse out of it. Sorry if the message is here and there just a kid not really sure if what i should do ha.

^ I agree! Do a like D16y8 swap and do a turbo if ur looking for that much power because thats cheaper than doing a say B18 swap when u could get like (im not 100% sure on this but) a little over 40 less horses with a stock y8 and its wayyy cheaper. Like less than 800 normally and a B seires is like a lot more than that. I say do a y8!!!

D16z6 would be a better motor to boost since the oil pump on the z6 is that much better. Unless the OP went ahead and got something nice like a Toga oil pump.

OP, how much money do you have, how much experience do you have, do you have any power goals, or do you just want it to be driveable?

Welcome to the forum BTW!

I really appreciate the advice. Im working with about 800 to 1000 tops on the motor. As far as my goals i want some thing that i can pass smog and drive. But i would like to have alot more power. I mean i dont need something crazy but just something that can hold its own and be pretty fast. I get alot of people trying to race me. I have headers and air intake with a new head but im looking to get as much power out of it as i can with not having to put a whole lot into it or go over my budget. My experience is very basic i work with my uncle at his shop and we fix up hot rod motors for old y blocks such as the t birds.
