Default Bizzare.... help me start!

I need help finding a civic for sale.
I know its wierd... but i can't find a cheap civic.
I've looked EVERYwhere. I live in Oakland county in michigan.
I've checked ebay for several weeks, i've checked the local magazines, as well as autotrader.com and many other sites.
I've asked friends, mechanics i.e. nothing.

I was looking to find a 98+ Civic (any) with less than 110k miles, and preferably a 5speed manual.
I was also looking for all the usuals, a female driver, and proof that someone had'nt driven the hell out of it (i.e. stock clutch, shifts fine)
I was looking to find something for less than 4,000-5,000$. Is that unreasonable?
It would also be nice if i could find one at a dealer, so i can trade in my current vehicle (a 98 ford-explorer 96k miles)
in for it (or at least get a good discount.)

So does anyone have any suggestions where to look ?

Oh, and of course hello to everyone!

The reason why is because Hondas hold their value like it isnt even funny. For example, if a normal domestic has 100k miles on it, and a civic has the same, to the civic, its like 60k miles. Also, even if someone did drive it like they stole it, its normally still going to hold up fairly well. Heres a tip. Dont buy a civic with only body work. Reason being it was probably somes tupid ricer and drove it like a retard. Try to find one that grandma drove, typically those type can be found in auto 4 doors. Also try to snag a 99-00.

I agree with Remmy on the 99-00, as they IMO are the best. However, cheapest way to go is find one in a junk year that doesnt run, and order a new motor for it. You could be starting off with a civic pushing 175+ hp depending on which motor you put in. Good luck, and welcome!

Okay so assuming i want to transplant an engine, i should idealy be looking for a '99-01 in the junk yard with minimum body damage?
Anything i should be wary of ? I really dont know that much about hondas, and help is appreciated.

Edit: Also, anyone in my area know some good junk yards to look in ?
In response to dreamer 16, sorry an older girl (or at least a typical one)

If its an engine your lookin for I would'nt worry how good the body looks. No you dont need to be just looking for a 99-01 (its actually 99-00) engine. Here are two that will do you just find and easy to come across. The D16Y8, and the B16A2.

Yeah, for that price you should be looking more in the 92-95 years.

Im currently looking for a 99-00 Civic Si and they went new for about 17k and now with hella miles they are down to loke 12 or 13. It friggen rediculas is what it is.

What are you plans with it once you get it? Fix it up or factory stock?

I've got two routes to go.

Route 1:
This way i've got 4,000$ to spend.
Okay since i can't afford a '00 with low miles, Im going to search out a '00 body in decent shape with a blown engine.
I can get a used engine in my area with less than 50k miles for under 800$.

Or route 2:
Find a dealer that will accept my ford explorer in trade for a decent civic, and then use my spare money, to do any neccesary repairs.
The spare money would be at most 2,000$.
('98 Ford Explorer with 96,000 miles)

The original goal of this was to get decent mileage, seeing as my girl friend was moving 5 hours south.

Once i finaly find one, im planning on mostly smaller changes to the engine, like an intake, and a cat-back exhaust (no fart-can).
Most of the changes im going to make are on the interior, i already have a PC ready to be loaded into the car, a touch screen monitor and what not
