Are you talking about a master rebuild kit? If yes - get the Z6 and buy whatever doesn't fit separately, provided that you already have the z6 head.

pay attention to whats included in the rebuild kit your looking to buy and make sure you know what parts you want in a kit. basic kits are just that just a freshen up kit basically. master kits will have more parts included in the kit along with the same parts in the basic kit. just think basic kit = freshen up master kit = overhaul. also there are plenty of brand kits out there and they done all include the same thing.

your big items will be valve seals and cam and rod bearings. piston rings are fairly important also but they usually come in both kits i believe. your other big item is timing belt and tensioner, water pump and oil pump. timing kits are generally sold separately but whatever kits includes what i mentioned.

Yes you can use a y8 trans, but it's been so many years for me I don't remember if the speed sensor matches. Probably does, if not - use a Z6 one.

Before you go and order stuff how about actually taking the block apart and taking a bunch of measurements to see if all you need is a re-hone or possibly a bore out with the next size up pistons. Make sure you check the cylinders for being out of round on top and about mid-way down. All of the specs are found in any good manual for your car.

Also make sure the crank is within spec. It is possible that you may need a crank grind and one size up mains and rod bearings.
