EX versus DX

ok, so I have my future Civic narrowed down to either a 2000 Civic DX 2-door or a 2000 Civic EX 2 door. Which car is faster and is it by much? More reliable? and which car gets better fuel economy?

Thanks

RE: EX verus DX

Well they are both reliable but the dx is the base model as where the ex is the nicest model excluding the si. The Ex is the one that come with more options. One of these options is VTEC which adds more hp. So the ex is better all around. I am an owner of a 2000 ex and the only civic that is better is a 2000 si imo.

I believe the DX is only 106HP, where the EX is 135HP.
And yes, the EX comes with a lot more gadgets.

Go with the EX!!! you won't be sorry!!! comes with a bigger engine, dunno about 6th gen but the 7th gen is bigger by 22hp. You will definately be more satisfied with the EX.

I don't think the motor is any bigger, but it does have more Hp. I'm pretty sure they both have the D16.

Dx-106
Ex-127

THe DX gets better gas mileage and has a little more head room but less features, The EX has the works and more power.

good reference. you can compare features side by side.

ex = vtec
dx= no vtec
which do you think would be faster???

I suggest going for the EX. Sure the DX gets a little better gas mileage, but for the extra power/goodies, and having VTEC, the EX is better IMO. I have a 99 EX and it gets about 28-32 City miles, and about 38 highway miles per gallon.

yeah ex is more driver friendly, if you like power options. nice thing about dx is its a lil lighter if it doesnt have power windows.

I would vote for the EX. I bought an LX and even though I love my car, I should have gotten the EX.

I have a dx, and i like not having the extra weight, but i do miss power windows. i think im going to get aftermarket ones. or swap on EX doors. then ill have power mirrors too. but i dont like sunroofs because my head hits the headliner (im 6'2"+) but other than that, I would probably have an EX.

Definitely go with the EX it's just a better package overall. Only area the DX beats the EX is headroom and gas mileage. My old '92 DX I could actually get 50 mpg on long road trips (above half a tank) My '95 EX gets around 35 on long trips. If these are more important to you go with the DX otherwise go with the EX. BTW, I'm 6'1 and very comfortable in the EX.

I got the dx and honestly for road feel i like not having power steering and the power is easy to gain with some bolt on upgrades. I am 6'4" if we are measuring and can fit a closed fist above my head when i am reclined a little. Power locks are the shiznet though and windows. Seriously though if you cant muscle a civic without power steering you need to lift a weight some time

Go Ex my friend you'll love it more crap and the bigger engine i mean your not spanking everything on the road right away! But you'll beat a stock dx with a stock ex

RE: EX versus DX

not neccesarily. the EX is heavier than the DX

RE: EX versus DX

Get the Dx. Put the Ex head on it, swap in the Ex doors and viola'- you now kick ass.
