Greetings From the Other Side...

:) Hi all,

I have been getting into cars lately and I just purchased my baby a couple of months ago. I'm a girl who has been in LOVE with the aforementioned car when I was like 12. Now I'm in utter bliss with my new car, not bad on gas at all (same as v6) and faaaast stock :D. I had a volvo 850, what a beast! Didn't move though. My mom had a Corolla which didn't move either. Then I had a v6 Camaro which a Taxi took from me... very sad still about it... was just this april or so. Now i'm with my new love.

I've been getting real serious about cars and modifications but I DO NOT like the domestic "scene". Alot of snobby rednecks (ricer haters... I come from a forum that made me go here instead, thats how bad it was over there )... I don't want to be associated with that. I know there are awesome guys in the domestic realm but I keep seeing over and over the same terrible picture of country people with big V8 trucks. Gaah!!

I don't particularly like tuner cars (but I love that its associated with modern and city things) or the dreaded ricers but I AM interested in the honda motors. Why? I want to know why so many people love them. I don't know what VTEC is, I see it made fun of everywhere. So guys and gals I want to get to know you and your Civics. I won't be buying one, but I do want to learn the motors. I think this place is a great place to learn so far (lurked a bit) but I want to talk to you all too.

Please accept me :D

-Nyanko

What's this? No leg humping? I'm surprised :D

Anyway, welcome to the forums! You'll find we're pretty much accepting of any make and model here, provided you don't flame or anything like that. But nice z28, any mods or planned mods?

Actually she tried humping my leg but i kicked her off. It was awkward!

ryonyanko 10-30-2008 12:56 PM

reaper2022- just a cutout, I plan to go with some hooker LTs, a sleeper cam, and possibly heads with a stall. I am gonna get a bigger muffler so that when the cutout is closed it sounds sooo quiet maybe someone might think its a badged v6 . Then open the cutout and have a nice somewhat choppy big engine sound. it got it bone stock and unmolested. I see not alot of people here have cars that look like this one here:

http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...082108_001.jpg

which is parked in front of my house. but this is a common place among almost every type of car around where i live

driftingfan 10-30-2008 04:38 PM

Welcome to the forum, nice camaro, gas station owners must love you.

Only visit one every 2 weeks if I don't have tanks in the garage, and I never drive empty ;)

The LS1 doesn't guzzle gas at all.

I got 22-27 MPG calculated from fulily driving city and highway. I don't drive slow either. If I drove normally all the time with no fun WOT i'd probably get 30 highway, saw an ls1 vette do it.

usually we just fill some gas tanks far out where my dad works (cheaper than city) and I don't see a gas station for almost a month.

So yeah its not a civc, but its a v8. I think its damn good. The same as my old v6. haven't gotten it dynoed yet but its sure as hell fun. I'll get those mods together and my mpg will probably stay the same if i get a modest cam.

I don't think its a gas guzzler at all, don't have to pay gas guzzler tax either. I guess its a misconception because its a V8 with a big 5.7L engine.

driftingfan 10-30-2008 06:06 PM

I dont know 5.7 litre would eat fuel but those are impressive numbers. Maybe its the bigger gas tank that helps:P

Nah look it up- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AtPwnsyGTxw more power with the vette obviously, but you get the idea. same engine

Agreed. I'd definitely rather have a Civic. Big motor/ high horsepower cars are good for straight lines only... That gets boring fast.

ryonyanko 10-30-2008 10:03 PM

lol i didn't expect to be on the receiving side of criticism before signing up.

possibly this will calm your woes? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YhW_nm_J72o

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rn9cUY7APGE oh this too, i don't see this as straight line

also this is weird its not just going straight.. http://www.vimeo.com/1749450 hmm

... you know I have a steering wheel, all street cars don't just go straight, silly. :)

yeah I know what you are talking about, but the way people say it is silly I think. yes its bigger and stronger and faster and can't corner as well as you light 4 cycls (SLLYYDEWAAYZ?) but I didn't say anything about the faults of civics right out at you all.

so i got the "gas stations must love you" and "only a straight line" about my car

heheh, back to lurking i guess :)

jpnolan 10-30-2008 10:12 PM

i would just like to especially welcome you because you spelt vtec correctly. welcome

ryonyanko 10-30-2008 10:20 PM

^ 3 out of 5 thats not too bad I guess. thanks for the welcome, i respect all cars (except mustangs :P jk) and if i join a board I don't troll even with huge differences. I know its Vtec and now I know what it does exactly. Thats a pretty good start ^^

trustdestruction 10-30-2008 10:39 PM

welcome to the forum
it's nice to have a domestic owner joining the forum knowing that import and domestic drivers can coexist

ryonyanko 10-30-2008 10:43 PM

I believe it. also one of my favorite cars is a Supra, but yea who doesn't like a Supra? The sound of that turbo is amazing. I like it just as much as I like a big choppy v8 pounding away cammed and all. I think that turbo sound is my favorite car sound however, and I could NEVER say that on the domestic boards.

The reception was a little mixed so far.

Hopefully the differences and negative comments won't happen too often.

I don't mind imports, I mean obviously look at my avatar, its from a Japanese anime movie. I am NOT anti-import. :/ they should import MORE is what I think. Cars and all.

Its just the Camaro has been my favorite car since I was 12. No joke, glad I finally got my Z. I love Fbodies, Formula/Trans Am included. I'd have a graphite single turbo Supra, black Formula WS6 blackbird clone, and midnight blue SS Camaro (with my Z28 still, repainted charcoal with ghost stripes) with an older or brand new bright blue Civic as a daily driver and a huge turbo if I was rich.

I think it's just because it's kinda hard to react to a friendly domestic driver joining the forum. Most domestic drivers that come here are trolls and they come here to try and piss us off. It's a defense mechanism and stereotype against domestic drivers that has been developed. They'll come around.

ryonyanko 10-30-2008 10:52 PM

Yeah, thats what I mean about dom drivers in my first post. I can't really get along with such macho people -_-

Hahaha hopefully. Shall I say:

I come in peace? Show me to your leade- Coff ok I'm still a person though lol.

Low 4 Door 10-31-2008 01:10 PM

welcome that is a bad looking camaro. sounds like you are a fan of GM. what dou u think of the new camaro coming out

addiction2bass 10-31-2008 02:56 PM

nice car. tho id tint the windows....
i was shocked at how good of gas milage those cams get.... i even thought about trading my old 94civic for one but decided not to.

mainly i enjoy my civic for mostly MPG and its a cheap/reliable vehicle... which is why i have 2 civics again ;)
im all about V8 power but those gas stations are not friendly for a daily driver!!!!
i got a 66impala 4door hardtop with a 400 motor and powerglide tranny. the car is wicked fast but only at 0-80mph anything higher than that and the motor is screaming! its only a 2speed tranny....
plus it is a large @ss vehicle! my little civics can go anywhere almost ;)

IMO Vtec is not really that great. yes it gives you more power like about 20hp. but theres so many power adders out there that can be just as good.
you can always tell a newb about vtec if you just ask them to spell it.LOL every idiot says VTECH!!!!!!!!! hell my spelling is bad but at least i know how to spell vtec properly.LOL

please dont think all hondas are rice burners. there are plenty of ricers out there that stick on as much stickers as they can find and stick on vents, but just remember theres a ricer in every vehicle ever made and to be made!
some people just love stick on hood scoops and vinyl decals and love to advertise brands.
id like to think im not a ricer.... but i do like my underbody glow. at least i keep it hidden and full length UB glow as well..... not your typical ricer neons hanging low and bulbs visable and really short.

Year they do get good gas, better than a pontiac vibe;).

and Jeeeeze that sounds like the hottest impala ever... You ever drag it? 2 Speed LOL damn.

I see VTEC alot so... I dunno why people spell it tech rofl.

:( yes its true... I see rice corvettes alot which makes me very sad and angry.

Well I'm not a fan of UB glow but I mean if you love it then you should have it :D oh yeah, v8 power ftmfw!
-

Low 4 Door- I do love GM but I just got into cars so yea. I wish they brought the monero vX8 500 or w/e rather than make the new camaro IMO. Well.. anyway no Z28 and waaay heavier so :( but i would make my father get the v6. I do like some styling points like the grille.. and the rear fenders. thats about it though.

nope no drag runs. just alot of stupid streetracing and abuse.... it was my first car and i know i abused it hard and did ALOT of stupid sh(* with it. but at the time it was fun. i dont drive it much if any anymore.... just gas cost to much and it hates highway driving...

i loved those bench seats! all i had to do was take a right turn smash the gas and my girl friend at the time would slide on over to me ;)
it was my first restoration bymyself also. i did all the paint and body work and for the resto being about 13years old it still looks pretty dam good from 5foot away! only afew small rust bubbles coming back thru and a small ammount of paint difference since i painted the car in pieces and i didnt count my coats so afew parts are slightly darker or lighter than the others. :( most people didnt notice but since i painted the car i know its there.. :( but it was definatly a learning experience.
stupidest thing i ever did with it is actualy ramping it off some railroad crossings! and yes i got about a foot in the air at least. boy was i being stupid.LOL only thing that messed up tho was the shift linkage clip fell off the tranny so when i went to put it in park it wasnt there.... i fixed it at the video store with a twist tie. it only had to work till i got home.LOL
Attachment 24077

ive thought about selling it sometimes but i can never go thru with it! and my dad told me suprisingly the car books 10K in fair condition accordin to NADA books he got. shocking to me! i got it for 2K back in 96

Low 4 Door 11-01-2008 06:01 PM

i will half to agree a civics gas milage is great but you half to love american muscle. my dad and i also have a impala. its a 67 4 door hardtop with a small block. its currently in restoration but hoping to have it done this time next year.
