I am not familiar with that year or engine size/layout, but on my 91 Civic, it would be just about as easy to go ahead and remove the valve cover. On my civic, once you remove the cover, you get full access to the spark plugs and if I read your comment right, the broke off wire part that is still stuck to the old plug.

And....welcome to the Forums.

The same thing happen to me when changing the plugs and wires on my old 96 civic lx 1.6l I used needle nose to get it out. All 4 actually the wires actually broke on me and even one of the spark plugs it self broke. If you can you the pliers to grip any part of the wires that still in your engine do it try to pull it out then your 5/8 socket will get the spark plugs out. Or you could also try this way, use the pliers to grip the broke wire and with as tight of grip you can do turn them just like you would to get the spark plugs out with them also. Both ways actually worked for me was just a pain in the ass. But I recommend using ngk brand for the replacement spark plugs and wires. They the only brands that I let touch my Hondas now. Got them in my 96 civic ex right. As my daily driver and putting them in my 94 hatchback cx when I get my b series swap done in it. I hope this helped you. Let me know how the results turn out.
