Hey, auto body chick here

there are multiple chassis codes for each generation.
EK is JDM 3 & 4 door civics from 96-00, EJ8 specifically refers to all 2 and 4 door USDM civic EX. EJ6 refers to all 96-00 civics with the non-vtec d16y7, like the CX, DX, or LX. EK, EG, EF are the most commonly misused chassis codes, as almost all of them are JDM only. most USDM civics are EJ (96-00), EH (92-95, with the exception of 2dr ex&dx which are EJ-the only USDM EG are the 4dr dx/lx), and ED (88-91).
edit: and the only thing you really need to know about horsepower is the more air & fuel you throw in your cylinders, the larger the explosion every time the piston reaches the top and meets with the spark, and the harder the pistons slam down makin the crank (and in turn the wheels) spin faster. you could accomplish that with any number of guides on this site as well as the friendly help of the community.

lulz. I didn't say chassis codes. EF/EG/EK are the generally accepted designations for each generation civic. It's not technically correct, but it's a lot easier than saying "my EJ1".
If you really want to confuse someone who's obviously never heard any of the chassis codes, please go into detail. Given the OP asked "what's EK?", I'd prefer to keep things simple.

edit: and btw since when is EJ the generally accepted designation for 92-95?

'94 EX coupe = EJ1. I was using my old car as an example.
I have yet to see a thread here where someone complains about someone saying "My EK" instead of "My EJ8" or "My EM1". Care to link to any examples? The only time I can think of when someone here uses the "correct" chassis code is when they're being specific.
Case in point: EF/EG/EK are the generally accepted designations for the generations. Again, different than the chassis code (which is pretty much just 3 digits from the VIN).

For an intake, Cold-Air and Short-Ram are your two main options. The Cold-Air will have a slightly higher gain (but not enough to show up on most dynos), but will hold the gain once the engine bay is heat soaked. The downside is they usually cost over twice most Short-Ram intakes. Most people get an AEM Cold-Air and call it a day. Another thing to look at is Password:JDM's "PowerChamber" (AKA "whale *****") intakes. It's pretty much a short-ram intake, but the tubing has a large air chamber. That means there's available air already in the intake should you decide to go WOT, meaning better throttle response in theory.
for civic parts, I'd go with ProCivic and Password:JDM for most parts, along with JDMsh*t for a few miscellaneous parts. (replace the * with an "i" for the url. The word filter will catch it even if I link it, so yeah). For body parts (lip kits and such), try StreetStyler or HMotorSports. And of course, there's always eBay, but be cautious when using eBay.

The civic was the hottest. As for the Mustang, I used to have a 1975 Ford Mustang II. I know, I know, the one that used to look like a Pinto. But after I was done with restoring it, it was NICE. I have a whole photobucket album dedicated to it's restoration process. And it's on Silver Mustang's website...? I can't remember if that's what it's called.
Anyway, thanks for the links to the websites, I'm checking them out now.
