Not completely sure yet. Havent taken it apart. Life keeps getting in the way aside from not having the money to fix it after its in pieces....so it sits.
Maybe one of the rods? Dunno...it was still barely running when I towed it from Summit but I was advised not to drive it. Sounded horrible - felt like I was driving on 3 cyls.

 

you may have dropped a piston or perhaps a valve burned up?

either way it sounds like you're compression's not up to snuff.

leak down test, if you haven't taken off the block's head yet.

 

Haven't done anything with it yet...dist cap and wires are on the crutch motor.
Completely sick about it still.

 

come to think of it, you might be experiencing blow-by in one of your pistons.

the rings might be worn out.

a quick look at the pistons will reveal all.

my buddies were swapping a D16Y8 out of a car just like mine for a B18 and they decided to see what it would take to kill the D-series. the engine was in pretty crappy shape anyway. kind of a waste, but really intertaining. here's what it took:

they took the car out into the back yard and ran the thing in neutral as hard as they could. this went on for about thirty minutes. nothing happened. they took turns alternating between holding down the gas pedal and drinking PBR. this went on for about two hours. they got bored and got a brick. they put it on the gas pedal and left to go to someone else's house to drink. came back about five hours later and the thing had finally blown. to make sure it had really blown, they checked to make sure it had not just run out of gas. their friend next door said he saw it blow about an hour and a half before they got back.

 

Aaaaaactually...its an automatic. (!) Scary, I know......
