Hey... ima NEW-B and i need help 92 civic
I have a1992 civic lx and i need to change the air filter but don't know how.
Is there anything else that could give me not so great gas mileage? Besides the price of gas of course!
What is a good repair manual for me to buy if I don't know much yet?
Thanks

I use the Haynes manual myself, excellent for noobs like us, i find it very clear to understand
(lots of pictures too). Something you might consider is an intake, it improves your mileage,
slightly HP gain, an looks cool. Cheap off ebay, easy to install yourself!
Welcome and good luck!

filter is real easy to replace. pop open the hood and it is a black box (i beleive on the left side) then just unscrew a couple of screws and replace it with a new one. But like TheShimster91HB said, an after market filter will be better and make the engine sound stronger.

welcome.
ok to help out with your question....
if you have the stock air box then to change the filter its 4 screws. one on each side. i think its an 8mm. pull the top up and switch the filter.
for you gas saving issues... first major thing would be a tune up. your fuel filter may be as old as your car for example. then if you wish change your filter to somthing with less resistance. if gas is a problem i would not get an aftermaket one (think of it as more air= more fuel). although it does give a lil more power if you did though.
also is it stick?? that would help your gas too.
another thing you could do is get a header. most headers give more HP but you loose TQ. it also helps the engine to work less as the header pulls the exhaust out instead of the engine working to push it out.
