high mileage 2006 Civic
Hello! I'm in the market for a used Civic in Austin, TX. I came across a metallic Titanium 2006 Civic 4DR LX with manual transmission having 103400 miles on it, offered for $9900. According to Carfax, it has only had one (personal) owner in Texas. The Carfax title history is clean. Edmunds.com gives a dealer retail price (True Market Value) of $8055.
Honda Civics are apparently due for timer belt and water pump replacement at 105000 miles, and this one has not had such replacements. That's $700 or more in immediate maintenance costs (please correct me if this is incorrect). So it seems to me that at $9900, this Civic is overpriced.
Another thing that worries me is that the Carfax report doesn't list any maintenance information for this Civic, so it's hard to know how well it has been looked after. The last odometer reading was at 78747; i.e. it went for 25000 miles without an odometer reading.
What do others think? I would appreciate any tips and comments. Many thanks, in advance.
