Default I'm new and have a question

Just bought a Civic 1.5Lsi registered in November 97, it's got a v-tec badge on the back but no mention of a v-tec engine on the paperwork or anything, anyone got any ideas how i can find out once and for all???? theres nothing else on the car to suggest it has v-tec other than the badge and the surge of power at about 5,500 revs but i would expect a bit more of a surge from a v-tec engine..... I'm confused and know squat about these things so please help!!!!

Umm, check what markings the engine has, and see if you have a vtec engine. The pull at around 5400 is noticable, but my ex being stock, it wont blow you out of this world. I'd just check to see what markings the engine has on it.

If the car has vtec you will hear the engine work twice as hard as soon as you go past 5500 rpm.
If not it will just steadily climb to redline.
