Looking for my first Civic...

Looking for my first Civic...
well, my first Honda for that matter. I have been a die hard GM guy all my life...never owned anything other than GM. The last two GM cars I have owned have completely put a sour taste in my mouth in regards to GM. Not to mention the problems my G/F is having with her brand new G6...whole other story...but, to make a long story short...I have heard a lot of positive info on the civic...dependability, reliability and efficiency. I am looking at purchasing a used Civic for these reasons...however...I have no idea what to look for and was just wondering if you guys/gals could give me a few suggestions on what to look for? I am looking for a two door, stick...but that is all that I am in need of...and to start off, just going to keep it stock...then see where it leads...any help would be appreciated.
Oh...I am in Ontario(thanks CC)

if you want something fast and reasonable amount, then look for a 99-00 SI. they are a really good car with a good engine in them and if you decide to beef up the engine and do more with it then there are a ton of bolt ons for it.

RE: Looking for my first Civic...
FYI, if you here people talkin about SI civics, from what I understand, canadian SI is american EX. Nice and fancy but not quite the power.
my advice would be to buy a 90's hatchback. they're just as zippy as a coupe and I just fit 12 eight foot 2x4s in my 95.
and remember.. its a civic, 100,000 miles and its just starting to get broken in

RE: Looking for my first Civic...
Thanks for all the advice...I was setting my sights on getting a hatch...so I think I'll be looking for a mid 90's... Now, is there anything in particular that I should be looking for? I mean...certain things have a tendancy to go at certain mileage...ie- timing belts? I have found a couple of cars that appeal to me...anywhere from 145,000 - 185,000 KM's...again, any help would be appreciated.
And thanks for the welcomes to the board...seems like a nice place

RE: Looking for my first Civic...
I have an SiR, or Si in the states. Its supposed to have A/C, mine is gone but i like the power sunroof. I think buying a civic is a great investment, the gas prices and aftermarket are the 2 things that pulled me.
