Default my 1st civic

Hey everyone! I'm new to the site. I recently purchase my 1st Civic EX and it's a 5 speed manual with navigation. And it's 15 days old. Didn't know how to drive a manual and took a chance on it because of how much I hear that manual are more fun to drive and they were RIGHT! I'm still getting use to it but I'm getting better and still have a lot to learn. Anyways, will post picture soon! Enjoy your Civic everyone!

i was the same way when i got my civic,i didnt know how to drive stick but i heard they were so fun..so i got my civic not knowing how to drive stick, my dad had to drive it home from the dealership for me lol, then i learned on a back road..now i love it!!!

...it gets annoying when your learning and you jerk the car or stall it alot, but learning takes time, i was pretty mad when i would stall or jerk...but its worth it

WELCOME!!

Yea standards are a lot of fun when you get the hang of them, can get annoying though late at night, or if your trying to eat while driving...grr

what's funny is that I live in GA. traffic is aweful here. when I left the dealership it was almost 4pm. the dealer's salesman was nice enough to let me practice some more with him on the passenger side at their lot for 30 minutes and i was ready. anyways, when i got to the hwy i completely forgotten that it was rush hour and then rain. so i was like great, if it can't be any worse. i was so nervous but i'm glad i didn't grind or stalled. so i told myself that i can do this. i can do the hill, but going from 1st to 2nd gear take a little more practice b/c i guess you have to be quick. so far i have had a lot of compliments on my civic than i did with my Element. people said i have made the best choice especially that its a manual transmission.

These were my previous cars:

1996 Honda Accord Coupe EX
2003 Honda Element EX 2WD
2005 Honda Accord EX-L
2005 Honda Element EX 2WD (I know!)
then the 2006 Honda Civic EX. I think I'm done buying cars! Also my mom has a 2005 Honda Civic LX. They are all automatics until the 2006 Civic.

Thanks!

question: since im new the manual transmission, i'm a little concern abot wearing out the clutch faster than normal. should i be of any concern? i have asked people that its gonna take a lot to wear out the clutch. i guess i'm concern b/c the car is new and to replace the clutch is expensive.

thanks!

your clutch should last to about 150k miles or so ( approx. ) but just dont ride with the clutch in the ' spot " I guess you would say? just when you get the car going let your foot off the clutch and leave it off until you need to shift or what have you.

It feels so much better controlling the car just the way you want it to. Standard cars are a lot better, you will get the hang of it and forget that you even have to shift later on, you will do it automatically.
