Need advice on coilovers
Hey everyone,
I'm new to this forum, I live in Canada and own a 2000 civic Si (I believe it's actually an EX or something in the US). I'm looking in to installing coilovers on my car but the mecanics at all the local shops tell me that I absolutely need a camber kit. Now, to install a camber kit, I read that I have to change the upper control arms in the front and a couple of other small things. So now, a job that would cost 300$-400$ looks more like 1200$-1400$. Friends tell me it's not necessary to go through all that and that if I lower it only about 1.7" or 1.8" there should be no need for a camber kit. Anyone have any experience with this???

You dont need a camber kit if you dont lower more than 3". I lower mine quite a bit with the coilovers, I need a a kit bad, my tires went out pretty quick, I seriuosly dont think you need one only droping it a 1.5"

if you're not lowering much, you can get away without having it. Personally i recomend it for coilovers so that if you want to lower it more later you wont need to worry. what you'll spend on tires will make you wish you got the kit.

Very true there Bob, I am learning that the hard way, good thing is Im pimpin on bo bo's. so it dont cost nearly close to low profiles, I pay 30 bucks a peace for the reg.s. And he has a point if later you want to lower it more you dont have to worry.

i don't think i'm gonna be lowering it more because the car will have a body kit installed prior to the coilovers. I'm just waiting for the snow to go away so I can bring the car out and do some mods that i've been getting ready for this winter lol

RE: Need advice on coilovers
Dropzone is a good camber kit for the EF/EG Civic. The EK uses the upper control arm (like Skunk2) You should be able to complete the project in the $500-$600 range for parts and labor.
