First off, welcome to HCF. Regarding what you want to do next,

How much money do you have to spend?
Do you want performance related items, or maybe something for the interior/exterior to make it possibly look nicer?
Is your car auto or manual?
How much experience do you have working with cars and the such?

Also, post up some pics of your ride!!

With $1000, maybe look into an upgraded camshaft? If you do that, you'll need some type of tuning system. Otherwise, you would want to go boost, but you would need more than $1000 for that. Would you be interested in suspension mods? You could get a nice set of coilovers, camber kits (front/rear), and a lifetime alignment plan for that amount. If you're not into suspension mods, look for little things like a short shifter if you don't have one yet.

To post pics, just upload them onto photobucket, and copy and paste the IMG code.
