New 2006 Sedan - Concerned
Hi All!
Two weeks ago I traded in my beloved 2005 CRV for a 2006 Civic sedan. I really loved my CRV but needed somthing with better gas mileage.I would get about 250-270 miles on a tank of gas .I left the dealership in my new Civic AT Sedan with a full tank. I was surprised to see the fuel light come on at about 240 miles. I am hoping I don't end up regretting getting my new car. I really want to like it, Am being I just impatient? Thanks in advance for your advice !

Are you sure you didnt mis-type that... the civic should be doing 340 before the light turns on... my 04 civic can do about 375 before I get really nervous.... adding a short ram intake onto it gave me at least 420 miles per tank and gave a little bit of power... but a ton of mileage for only 100 bucks.

A couple of things to consider:
1) there is a difference in the size of the gas tanks between the two vehicles. The CRV's gas tank is 15.3 gallons. The Civic's gas tank is 13.2 gallons. So by your estimates you were getting 16-17mpg on the CRV and 18mpg on the Civic. So the Civic is slightly better . . . so far . . . but . . .
2) there is a break in period on a new vehicle before it gets better gas mileage. I believe one person told me it would be the first 5000 miles? Not sure on the exact time frame.
That being said, I just filled the tank for the first time on my 2 week old 06 EX sedan and got 26 mpg with mostly city driving, so I'm happy.
