I'm wanting to start a new hobbie with my son. He is really into the whole import thing. I would like to know what you guys recommed in starting off with. I have a low budget and would like to gradually turn this car into something real nice....a head turner! Any ideas?

yeah, welcome to the site.yeah,i'd get a 92-95 civic, look on craigslist for one, don't pay more than 3500 for one though, and dont get one that has already been raced or modified.thats what i was looking for when i was searching for a car,1-because raced/problems and i wouldn't trust anyone saying that an engine that has been raced doesn't have any problems, something's gonna go wrong, and 2-to me thats the whole fun part, tuning up and modifying your ride, thats the fun part...i'm not saying i woudln't modify my ride into a rice rocket, but im just saying to do i yourself,if you want something doen right,do it yourself,i hope you understand what i'm tryng to say lol...did i say WELCOME?? lol...

well u can probably try to get an 92-00 civic shell for really cheap lets say around 800-1500 than spend another $1500 on a b16 or b18 engine an u will have a nice and fast $3000 dollar car. i bought my 96 hatchback for $1000 dollars and i also know this dude that baught his 98 EX for $800 in really good condition.it just takes time to find a really nice deal.
Sov... by far has gotten the best deal i ever herd of, he bought his EK hatch for $300.

im currently in the same situation in a way. i actualyl purchased a 1998 honda civic that was silver for about 6500 and i ahve ocnstantly been working on it. a civic is something really good to start with usually and its prob one of the easiest cars to wrok on. atleast thats wat i think.
