Default new '90 4wd wagon

i just picked up a 90 4wd wagon with a manual trans. this is almost a 1 owner car (some guy bought it in an estate sale type deal, put on a big exhaust, lowered it, tinted the windows, and put in some sort of sound system),had it for a month or 2, and sold it to me. very good shape, it seems, a little rust in front of the rear wheels, and on the right windshield pillar.

now, to each his own, but i'm not really interested in a big exhaust (which i'll leave alone until it rusts out), the sound system, or the tinted windows. what i am interested in is the lowered suspension, not because i want it, but because i don't. i live in the middle of blizzard land (upstate ny), and need an economical 4wd for winters. the last thing i need is less ground clearance!

so the guy i bought it from raised it up, but it rides like he!!. (is hell allowed here?). it looks like he left the shorter springs on (said they're skunk 2 springs, but who knows), and cranked up these adjusters. like i said it rides really bad.

so i'm looking to reurn this to sort of original condition. i'll admit, i know next to nothing about these things, except that it should do exactly what i want it to... go long distances through bad weather, and not use a lot of gas.

any help anyone has in terms of pointing me towards useful forums and/or threads would be great. again, i know NOTHING, so take it easy on the shorthand, please?!

thanks, and i'll be reading right along!

Welcome to HCF!
I would suggest finding a set of used struts/springs that are from a 4dr wagon and having them installed. Maybe someone on a local craigslist has a set? Hell, if you get lucky and find a kid in your area with the same car, but stock, I bet you can swap suspensions/exhausts etc etc and you could get some money out of it!
