New to civic, but a good Q?

Default New to civic, but a good Q?

I just bought an honda civic EX 1998 but why it is not v-tech I dont understand that . I thought that all ex and si where v-tecjs but I am very confused. help!!!!

here it comes....it's v-tec, not v-tech...Not sure about the car but i just thought id give you a warning

I look at the engine ut it doesnt have the selenoid thing. its is internal or what? thanks man!!

i don't think ex's started coming with vtec engines until 2000....i might be off, but that's what's coming to mind. also, ex's are single overhead, unlike the Si's, which are dual overhead.

Umm, it should definitely be vtec. Post up the engine code and we can let you know. You may have found an ex that someone swapped a non-vtec motor into

Yeah, as far as I know you should have a v-tec engine.

dude. u got ****ed. someone might have just put a ex badge on there.... if so go kick there ***. you should be runnin v-tec. but hey maybe this a good excuse to put a bad *** power plant in there.

well, a good way to know if it's an ex style is if it's got power windows, door locks and a moonroof. i've test driven a couple 6th gen ex's without the vtec engine.

Well, I have a 2000 EX that is supposedly a vtec, but it doesn't say vtec anywhere on the body or engine. I find that really strange and have my doubts as to whether mine is a vtec or not. Can anyone clear this up? Did they put vtec motors in the 6th gen without stamping the engine? I don't think you can get an EX without vtec, but I could be wrong.
