Default New Civic Owner

I am the proud (read: beaming) new owner of a 2012 Honda Civic LX, sedan, manual transmission. My last car was a 1989 Honda Prelude Si. I'm in love. I'm also addicted to driving with the Econ button on, but I'm wondering if it makes a difference.

Welcome to the forum!

Civics have Econ buttons now?

I wish I could help with your question, but I would assume that it does make a difference. Do you notice any mpg changes while driving with the econ mode on or off?

I'm a new owner with a 2012 LX in Crimson pearl and love the car! According to the computer it's delivering about 38 mpg in mixed driving. We traded a 2004 Camry with 133,000 miles. We wanted a car that was a little sportier but not as elemental as the Miata we just sold. I think the Civic fills the bill perfectly.

All 2012 Civics get an Econ button, which tweaks accelerator pedal response, air conditioning, and other systems to boost fuel economy.

Thanks! I have recently (just in the last week or so) turned the Econ button off while driving. In the city, I definitely noticed lower mpgs, but not by much, surprisingly. Still, it's hard to drive it without the Econ button on; I'm cheap! BUT, I will say this, I didn't realize that I'd find the power so noticeable. Definitely had more pep after I turned the button off. I'm doing a long distance drive this Thurs. (about 225 miles), most of it highway. -I'll keep the econ button off for that and report back. On average when I make this trip, I get about 36.6 (or higher) mpg with the Econ button on.

Oh! Question: Does anyone on here have/recommend/strongly NOT recommend the external starter?

I'm considering it...
