Default New guy - Need help!

Hey guys. I'm from the Toronto area and am looking at buying a used car in the near future. I am literally clueless about cars. I don't know much about them, but I am very anxious to learn how to maintain them, and how they work.

I have been looking online a bit today on Used Cars for Sale ? AutoTRADER.ca ? Auto Classifieds for some cars. I found a couple that I liked and had decent mileage on it. My budget is pretty low, but this is basically just to commute around the city, and a few long drives definitely nothing too major. My budget is 4 grand max but looking around 2-3 grand as this is my first car ever.

Is Autotrader the only Canadian site I can look for used cars? I checked Kijiji as well, but didn't find much on there. Also, as far as mileage goes, what can I expect in my price range? My dad told me try low would be 120,000 and too high for me is 250,000 but I'm not sure it's accurate.

I was looking at a Honda. My dad has had two, and both were great cars. Both civics, one is a 2010 one was an 03. Very nice to drive it around and has had very little problems with both.

Sorry for the long post guys, but I'm just looking for some help here, as I don't want to buy something I will regret, and I know you guys know your ****.

Thanks in advance.

Default Car Mileage.

I just bought a 2000 Civic Ex from someone who posted the car on craigslist, out here in California, for 5 grand it was in good condition, some dents here and there, nothing major so far. it had 108k when i got it. a car that has 120k should run you about 3 to 4 grand also depending on the condition of the car.
Hope this helped

if you're buying without a warranty bring someone along who can check it over or do a lot of research on what to look for. For instance how do you test the transmission and why would you smell the fluid.
