New here. loved my 1977 honda civic hatchback
Hi everyone,
I bought a brand new 1977 honda civic hatchback when I was 18. I remember the day I drove it off the lot. I was so excited!! It was light blue, not the more metallic, darker colour that came the next year, but the beautiful light, sky blue. I drove that car everywhere! I had a stereo put in it, and I thought it was the cat's pajamas. I had to replace the engine, thankfully it was covered by warranty. Then I had to do major work a couple years later because the head gasket was cracked. After that I sold it, it was rusting out. I was so sad to see it go, it was a great car and it gave me 5 years of fabulous driving. Can you believe that at first I could fill the tank for less than $5.00??? People used to come up to me at gas stations and ask me about the car because they were so new at the time. Yup, it was a gem!

Welcome to the forum. Nice story. We have a member here that restored a 1979 Civic hatchback. It's a cool little car. Here's a link to his thread: https://www.hondacivicforum.com/foru...ad.php?t=76228

I halfway entertained the idea of getting a 76 two door hatch a few weeks back. Unfortunately it was too far gone for me to afford to buy, and get running, and someone picked it up before I could get the money. Oh well, welcome to the forum.

Hope I'm doing this right....Thanks to all for the warm welcome.
Thanks to WellFedHobo for the link to the 79 restoration, that was awesome!
Hi Apoplectic1, too bad you missed out on that 76, hopefully something else will come your way soon.
Hello vstaryder, sad to say I'm not driving a Honda now.
I gave my kids my 2000 Impala four years ago and it was a toss up between a new Honda or Nissan Altima. I went with the Altima. Loved the Impala but it cost me a fortune to maintain (bearings, brakes, transmission, ugghhhh). The car has since been totalled. The Altima has been great. If I could find an old civic, would love to buy it.
My sister just bought a 2010 Honda Civic. She says it drives like a luxury car and she loves it. It's her fourth Honda, and she won't drive anything else.
