New here, maybe a civic near future

Hey, what's up everyone? I'm new here because I have some questions. I'm looking at getting this one civic and just thought I would ask what you all think since most of you probably know your stuff about them.

1994 HONDA CIVIC EX
4 cyl V-tec, 5 speed, a/c, cruise, tilt, am/fm/cd, power locks, windows & mirrors, recent new timing belt, power sunroof, like new tires, local car, damage to hood only (via deer), 223,000 miles

That's just off the dealer site. Did that year come with a cd player stock or is this probably an aftermarket one? I haven't gotten to see the car's inside yet, only the outside. They say it gets 38mpg, how accurate is that?

They want $2850, could probably get them lower. Sound like a good deal to you guys?

What are your plans with the vehicle? Are you going to mod it? Is it a daily driver?
If it's a project mod car. I would find one with less mileage. If it' a daily driver. Looks like its a nice car. and mostly clean. But you should wait for the experts to tell you. Im still a noob at heart.

Mainly a daily driver, Might get a few things for it though like cold air and exhuast but that would be about it.

Mpg should be accurate, will be higher highway cruising with the right conditions, lower around town. You can get them lower with the damage and high miles. Do a 100 mile radius or so search on autotrader.com, and cars.com and see if you can find anything to compare it to. If nothing I'd just offer $2000 flat.

I would give about 2k for it, it sounds like a decent daily driver. If you figure the avg life of a honda, when taken care of, is anything from 300-500 thousand miles, maybe more I don't know, you will be spending hardly anything and getting a quality vehicle.

I would however suggest if you have the money to spend, you go up to a 96-99, but again that's only going to get you a few upgrades over the one your looking at.

I would do what Kedawei said, look them up on auto-trader, its fast and easy to compare things there. Walk onto the lot knowing that you can easily drive 50-100 miles and pay 2k cash that day, dealers hate to loose a sale, they will talk with ya.

And I would say the CD player is aftermarket, I think it was pretty much tape decks up till around 98-99 ish? Not sure on that.

There's only damage to the hood.

Once the couple inches of ice on everything melts off I think I'm going to go check out the interior on it and possibly test drive it to see how it is.

I checked cars.com and autotrader and all therer were some with less miles and they wanted less but they aren't what I'm looking for. I'm wantin to find a 92-95 ex 2dr 5spd

looks and sounds like a nice car, but they would have to come down on the price some if it were me, 2k would sound much better. good luck

I can get a new hood for about $200 on ebay, does that sound right? Also, for the 94 ex do you have to have the stock cd player hooked up for the stuff to work or not? Cause on my bro's 98 dx i think his stock head unit had to be in the dash and the new head unit had to be hooked up too.

Ok, no one's answered yet. I saw a thread on here about you having to do that for the dome light to work. On my bro's 98 DX I'm not positive but I thought he had to hook the aftermarket radio into the harness along with the stock radio for all of the stuff to work. Would that have to be done on the 94ex? Oh, and the ice is starting to melt but saturday were supposed to get 5-6" of snow so I dont know if i'll be able to get interior shots and check it out.
