Default New to Hondas and here

Hello all. I just got a '97 DX coupe - complete with AM/FM only, stick, and manual steering. My kinda car, as I like el-strippos. AC is its only option, and it doesn't work all that well which I gather might just be a "thing" with Asian cars.

Mostly I'm interested in keeping it stock and maintaining it, fixing niggling issues like the shifter, etc., but it's a clean Texas car and should be a great driver. I've never really been into Hondas, but although I felt at first like I was settling for this car (vs things for the price including a fairly neat '05 Mazda6 wagon, V6/stick), I'm really starting to see why Honda built up such a loyal following. Mind you it's not perfect but it's nicer than I'd have a right to expect in the bargain basement price range.

As for myself, I have had everything from a smattering of classic Mustangs, to an Eddie Bauer Bronco, a Dodge Conversion van, and an SVT Focus. This car replaces my most recent car, a 100% free, beat Toyota Echo out of which I extracted its last 5 years and 70k miles at the expense of about $800 excluding only fuel and insurance, plus a bit of elbow grease. I work as a trucker and drive about 100 miles to leave it in a completely exposed caliche lot for three weeks while I rustle an 18 wheeler, then drive it home.

Hope to learn a bunch!
