new member, new car, lots-o-problems

hello everyone!! just recently purchased a new 2007 ex with the navi package. i havent had much time to really inspect the car until a few days ago when i noticed a blemish in the pain and the front quarter panel not sitting flush witht he door. the service manager said the blemish is normal and is due to the welding together of the panels..hmmmm.....sounds strange. he also said the uneven panels was part of the design to reduce wind noise and chips from pebbles, funny tho all the other cars on the lot were lined up nice. i argued witht he service manager for about 20 minutes before i left in my rental because the one problem they were gonna fix-the auto dimming of the nav screen. i called honda direct, explained the problems and i was told i would be contacted within a day or 2. anyone have any input on how to handle this. thanks in advance and glad to be a part of this forum!!

I have a brother who works in a New car dealer ship, and hetells me storys all the
time of how they beat on the new cars, or sometimes as they back up hit things
then do a quick fix.
Some times it sucks, because good people get them, and they never know.

RE: new member, new car, lots-o-problems

it is too bad, i am confident that this will be resolved, i paid for a brand new car, i expect a brand new car. i will make it my priority to give them hell (that is if honda corp. doesnt) until my car resembles a new car with only 1200 miles on it. it is just so aggrivating to pay for something new thats got flaws, not too mention the crappy neon they put me in as a loaner, thats almost the worst part of the whole thing.

you may have to file a grievance with honda of america and see if you can get some mediation with the regional service rep. look in the back of your manual in the dispute resolution section.

it sounds like the dealership is telling you a bunch of bull.

i'd certainly contact honda of america...

Honda Corp is very very good to their customers. I think they will fix your problem.

ok guys, stilll waiting on call from honda corp in regards to the paint blemish and misalignment of fenders, but dealer called and had me come pick up the vehicle even though the navigation is not fixed. they said they have to do research on the problem (problem is, it does not dim when i turn headlight on half the time), they said it could take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks[:@] i'm starting to think i bought a lemon[:@]any input from you guys??

+1... thats really odd why they would be such a$$es about a brand new car. Also, i figured they would just replace the navi to solve the problem...but could it be a function or something? i would assume not becuase your radio and stuff will auto dim, but its just a thought.

RE: new member, new car, lots-o-problems

[:@]the problem with the nav is when i turn the light on, the screen stays bright, while it is bright-supposed to be dim-it will dim out if i adjust the a/c, some sort of wiring problem from the factory, I'll try and get some pics of the body problems later when i get off work, my main concern witht eh body problems is when trade in time comes, i dont want the potential buyer to think the car was in a wreck. anyone ever gone through the process of claiming a "lemon"?

RE: new member, new car, lots-o-problems

I assure you that Honda of America needs to hear about this dealer. I can tell you some horror stories from dealerships. Many of my friends work or have worked dealership mechanic jobs. You should absolutely claim that the car is a lemon, or resolve the issue through Honda. DO NOT TRUST THE DEALERSHIP!!!! Whatever fight you have to go through to make this right will only make your new car that much more appreciated when you finally get it all settled out.

You bought a new car...get your new car. You will be much happier with your Civic knowing that it is exactly what you paid for. If needs be, don't be afraid to get another car exactly like yours (without the blems and navi probs). It may even run better!

RE: new member, new car, lots-o-problems

i want to thank everyone in this forum for their support!! it seems like everyone "outside" has no enthuiasm in his/her car. Its nice to see others that that appreciate a new car for what it should be and you guys are my support. family is starting to say "be thankful it runs good and the windows work", blah blah blah, they dont understand the value of a car, they have no enthuiasm towards a car. once again, thank you all for your wisdom and support!!

RE: new member, new car, lots-o-problems

:) ya HCF is great....anyway on another note i work a dealership every summer when im off from school and can agree that sometimes cars get "quick fix'd" because someone back into something or whatever....and alot of the guys that i worked with like to, what did they call it, "road test" the Si's....but man you should be able to work out everything if not through the dealership, then def. through honda....their a A+++++ company, and they put customer service above all (sounds like a commerical...i should get paid for this)......keep us posted
