newbie with a few Questions
hey whatsup everyone, im thinking deeply about buying a civic as a first car but i have a few questions.
are the DX and LX models the same thing, im talking about the 99' to be more specific.
and should i settle for a civic with a Vtec or doesnt it make much of a difference?
also, can you swap out a stock D16 head with a B16 head? or are there more mods that need to be done in order for that to work?
sorry for the dumb questions, im pretty new to civics, but i have good knowledge of engines and stuff.
thanks
Alex

RE: newbie with a few Questions
Dx is the base model, Lx has power things and more options. Ex has vtec.
You cannot swap from those two engines, but you can swap from a d series non vtec to a d series vtec.
P.s. The SI comes with the b16 dohc engine. The Ex comes with the d16 sohc engine

RE: newbie with a few Questions
hello and welcome to the site. what do you want to do with the civic when you get it? if its power i would look for a 99-00 SI and then you already have a really good motor for boost. let us know what your goals and what not are for the civic.

RE: newbie with a few Questions
thanks for all the help guys, i went to look at a 96 EX today, looked good except it had some minor problems, the SRS airbag light was on "red" on the dash, what does this mean? im pretty sure it means theres a problem with the airbag but the guy selling it told me it meant the airbag was on and working, wich i doubt. how much $$ would you think this would cost to fix?
were going to take it to the honda dealer on monday or tuesday and have them run through the car and make sure everything works and runs fine like it should.
thanks
