Default Hi, Need help!

Hi,

I'm totally new to Honda's and pretty new to driving to! I am hoping some people can help me out with a civic I want to buy. Here are some specs on it.

Picture Below

Year: 1999
Make: HONDA
Model: CIVIC
Model Detail: SI
Price: $10,750
Mileage: 100,000 km
Date: 9/23/2005
Ad Type: Private

PRICE NEGOTIABLE MUST SEE!!!!!!
Comment: Auto, 1.7 VTECH eng. w/ many upgrades, 2 dr., pm, pw, pl, a/c, cruise, airbags, keyless entry, keyless start, alarm, CD stereo, sunroof, Honda alloy rims, new full chrome exhaust, green ext., grey int., carbon fiber dash, full Xexon body kit, Private sale No GST, mint condition, price negotiable must sell 100,000 km.

The prices are CDN funds. I'm looking for something slightly sporty and quick but I don't want to turn it in to rice it or anything. I will probably get a paint job with some kind of House of kolors paint but I don't really know yet. Opinions would be GREATLY appreciated and I appologize if this is in the wrong forum.

Thanks

first off, welcome aboard!

it might help if you can decide what you want in a car besides sporty and quick. if you could find an Si stock, i would go for that over the one you've found. stock Sis are pretty quick. unless i know the driver, i'd be weary of buying a car that has already been modified, because you don't know if it was done correctly, and you don't know if they abused the hell out of the car. since you said you're new to driving, i'm guessing you're probably looking at this one because of the auto tranny. definitely go with a manual, you'll be happier down the road if you do, figuratively speaking. if you need practice on releasing the clutch, just go to a dealership and learn during test drives (i'm kidding...sorta)

good luck in your search. post some pics when you finally take the plunge!

Thanks for the info.

I have been told by many to get a standard but I really can't decide. I may just sell this once I learn to drive. I may not be the only one driving it and most of the other drives can't drive standard. I am taking a mechanic with my to look over the car. He is weary of the mods the guy as done to. I really appreciate the suggestions!

Welcome to the forum!!!

First off I've never heard of any of the respectable aftermarket exhausts being ALL chrome. 2 autos are boring IMO, and like XE said you will be much happier with a manual, they aren't that hard to drive and you only have to learn 2 gears, first and reverse, there's nothing to the rest. 3 Doing mods yourself is 90% of the fun. I say try and find you a stock SI with a manual transmission, for one with the same year and same milage I wouldn't pay more than 8k. Use the other 2k to start your modding.

Good luck!!!

Has the engine been swapped in that 99 Si? Because they originally came with a 1.6L engine.

Welcome to the forum. This is the Canadian model, right? Because Canadian Si = US EX.

Don't get duped into paying a lot for someone else's mods. UNless you're totally in love with the car. You should be able to save some cash on a car that's closer to stock and then do what YOU want to it.

And consider this another vote for the 5-speed...

i would go with something more like this:

http://www.trader.ca/powerpage/detai...3&adid=4731031

it's cheaper, but it has a little higher mileage. but it's also a manual. [sm=rockinit.gif]
