Hi,
my civic is a '98 160i SOHC (non - vtec) 5spd manual.
Stock standard - except for a K&N air filter. The car hasn't been dyno'd since. She is a real beauty! Honda blue and in pristine condition.
will add a pic soon.

I have read many posts now and have come to the conclusion that your car needs to be modified in order for a chip to be worth it.(By the majority of posts)

I am quite a novice at this, so any advice would be greatly appreciated
I do not know anything about odb1... and vafc? etc?.

The product I am thinking of installing is the following:
http://www.stevesautoclinic.co.za/Un...nversions.html

Please have a look at it and give me some advice.
They quote me R2400 ($370) for the complete setup and dyno etc.

I am not thinking of tuning my car further - maybe branches and a freeflow in the unforseeable future.but thats it. Will the chip be worth it, or should I just go with the dyno tune?

Hmmm, Im not so sure about that, I would do intake, exhaust, and header first, that would free up more hp, I wouldnt look at a chip until you change cam, etc.

yea before you do any chipping, i/h/e would be a good place to start. then cam and intake manifold with throttle body. then maybe chip it.
