Default 1993 Honda Engine codes

I have a 1993 Civic EX..... the hood says it was a 1.6 liter... but the code on the block says D15B7, and the valve cover says VTec.. is this a 1.6 liter Vtec engine?... I just bought it 2 days ago, and the seller said it had another engine put in it.... I dont know too much about decoding.. did I get "bent over"..?

It might be a mini-me...It's a SOHC v-tec head put on a D15B7 block in this case.

Translate that for me... The only facts I have is it had an engine change, and they said it has another vtec engine in it, could someone have took a squeeker 1.5 and put the valve cover over on it? By this number is it a 1.5 or 1.6 ..? How can I tell if its a vtec head?.. This car is starting to look worse and worse.. oh well.

If the block said D15B7, sorry to tell you but the block is a 1.5. But it is quite possible they put a SOHC V-TEC engines head on your engine and called it a V-TEC. Many people do this to their own cars if they can't afford an engine swap. It's called a mini-me

How much more HP would it over the 102hp the stock 1.5 have?.. Assuming it has the VTEc head.. Is there a way to tell if the head it stock for the engine or not.? I bought this car taking into consideration it had the Vtec engine, its kinda beat up, someone took the carpet out... this new info hurts.

welcome to the forum, first off the d15b7 motor is non v-tec so if it has a v-tec valve cover i'd say its had a mini me swap done. so the v-tec head isn't stock for your motor. with the mini me done you might have about 120-127 hp. if they hooked up the v-tec solenoid

Thanks for the info... I looked on another thread, and someone had a pic of the solenoid to look for when looking for VTec... my engine does have this... So i guess this is a good thing.

Does the 1.5 with VTEC cylinder head, have any advantages over the stock 1.6 VTEC..? The car doesnt seem to have much power to me, but I am having O2 problems, where they put the engine in, they also put on header pipe on the engine, the O2 sensor sticks out the side, and isnt plugged into nything, it is also a one wire! which is wrong for the car..... My engine light stays on and the engine idles up and down constantly, whether its in gear at a light, or in neutral.... its annoying.
