Default RPM's?

As per my previous post how high would my recomended revs be for shifting right now before I F**k something up? I love the Power that I have (or seems like I have) now. Just nervous to push it past the red-line being a newb. OH yeah almost forgot it's a 5 speed stick too.

Thanks,
-Neo-Tracer

Welcome to the forum. Don't get ahead of yourself though. We don't even know what you're driving!

So are you saying that with the rev limiter in place I can't blow the engine?

Thanks,

you can blow any engine, the limiter just helps prevent it a little.

There is no real reason to rev your engine up to the rev limiter, or even the redline for that matter...

OK Thats what I wanted to know. I was just wondering how far I can go without causing harm.

Thanks

The question for me is getting the max power output, how high I need the revs to be when I upshift and keep the max hp as I continue to accelerate. My '06 LX is auto, but I'm starting to play a bit with manual down and up shifting to get more perfomance. I'm finding I get a bit quicker throttle response if I'm already in the gear I want exiting a turn. Honda engines are designed to get power via high revs (the purpose of VTEC), but I think you can still get to a point where you're just abusing it and not continuing to get more power.

Still learning the car, but so far I'm getting max power in the 5500-6000rpm range.

Right... I guess that was my real question. I mean how should I be shifting for max performance? How should I be shifting for max economy also?

Thanks,
