RE: underdrive pully

i have one and it was a waste of my money, its not worth ruining your motor down the road and plus the bolt that holds them on is harder to get off over the stock pulley

i guess im not fully understanding what you are talking about... i understand the concept of an underdrive pulley, that way the accesories turn slower, thus pulling less power from the motor, but what i dont understand is how that could hurt a motor.. i mean turning the accessories slower could have adverse effects on thier performance and possable life span, but the motor itself?

I believe its because mostthe aftermaket pullies dont feature the same balancing benefits

ok, i guess i can see that... my stock one dosent have and dampner like oh say a chevy does.. so is it just a mass thing, the spinning weight helps balance everything out?

RE: underdrive pully

True. I am a converted chevy wrench so thats the first thing that came to mind. I would think that any stock crank pulley would have some sort of dampening or hamonic qualities to it. The aftermarket ones do not. (At least the cheaper ones) Ive read this could ultimately lead to things like spun crank bearings which speaks for itself
