Default blowing black/fuel smoke at higher RPM'S???

. Its a 99 civic ex d16y8 engine...Apexi ball bearing turbo, greddy front mount, Apexi BOV, 550cc RC injectors, 5 angle valve job, apexi header with full apexi N1exhaust...start off by saying its untuned as of now BUT besides it being untuned is there ANY reason why my car smells very rich when i get on it at higher RPM'S...i know its not blowing oil. im pretty sure its unused gas being blowed out the back. what could i do to not make my car run so rich and stop the smelling/blowing black smoke?? is it the 550cc injectors?? or is it when i get it dyno tuned it will stop? or is it something else i should be more focused on?

DONT drive the car unless you want to say goodbye to the motor. More specifically the bottom end as wayy too rich like you are mentioning is not good. Too much fuel will eventually seep through the piston rings, mixing with oil. Oil and gas = no lubrication.

It is also the fact that the ecu for the d16y8 is set up with 240cc injectors. You putting injectors that are over twice as big without tuning also caused it.

Just go get the car tuned and then let us know what is going on. You probably will have to replace your spark plugs before tuning since the ones you have now are probably black.

Regardless, you need a tune. /story I assume you dont have an a/f gauge set up?

^what he said

Even if the tune doesn't solve this exact problem, you still need a tune for many other reasons. Though, the tune is likely the problem in this case also.

Seriously? I don't even know where to begin.. I'm facepalming like a sumbitch right now

So, you just strapped on a turbo kit, hit the road, and started flooring it at high rpms? All of this, without ANY consideration as to how you'd need to change the fuel maps and pull timing to compensate for the excess air that is being slammed into your motor.

Did you do ANY research at all before this project?

If you continue down this road of ignorance, this is your motor's future....
