call me stupid?? 14b turbo
ok so i am making my 03 civic daily driver from april to october turbo.. and me and my friend are talking about it and he is telling me to do a t3t4 turbo yet i want to do a 14b just because its a small turbo and im not looking to run massive amounts of boost i just wanna have it turbo i dont plan on making it any nascar or anything.. but let me know for a daily driver shouldnt i do the 14b because its smaller? because if i do the 14b i am buying the manifold and turbo from a friend for a low price off his 91gsx thanks for alllll the help!! <333
You need to decide what kind of lb/hour airflow rating you will require for your target HP. Then you need to find what turbo is mapped in that range.
A small turbo may spool fast, but a small turbo produces hotter and hotter air as the PSI increases, so you need to match the turbo to your goals. It's called "map"... each turbo has a certain range of efficiency based on airflow versus pressure, most commonly measured as "pound hours".

We need an HP goal.
14b will be useless beyond about 200whp. Even then you are going to be spinning it stupidly fast and will probably half the turbo's life if you do go that fast.
A t3t4 however is probably good till beyond 400whp, just tipping in it's efficiency range at about 8psi... which is btw at around 200whp in a Dseries. You go up from there, but if you're going to build your block don't bother.
I'd say take the 14B, or maybe a smaller .42/.48 T3 and just have some fun.
