Default D series questions

1. alrite i know this is a newb Q but when i get my built z6 bottom end in will i need a tune?
its a z6 block with vitara's and fjt rods and will be using a sock y8 head, so can i just run it off my p2p with stock injectors until i hook up my turbo kit and get a tune?

2. simple, what are your opinions on what the small 16g is good for? im gonna say 300wph

3. what y8 bottem end parts or inerchangable with a z6

Honestly, I'm not 100% on the tune question. I don't think you'd need a tune, but it wouldn't hurt.

I would say you should be able to see 300whp from a 16g, but it'll depend on exactly what size you're running and a major part will be the engine you put it on (as far as what's been done to it), what boost you're running, and the big one: your tune.

And as far as I know, all y8 parts should be interchangeable with z6 bottom end parts. The bore/stroke and rod length are the same between the engines (75x90mm bore x stroke, 137mm rods). Don't quote me on this, but I believe the head and intake manifold are the only major mechanical differences between the engines (well, that and the y8 has an extra HO2S)

If you retain stock compression ratio, etc. when you build the bottom end, then you won't need a tune.

that's exactly what i'm during right now, i just just re-built my vitara bottom with the FJ rods in my z6 and i'm running stock injectors/stock ECU/stock tune. it runs great and the AFR's seem to be normal/the same according to my POS autometer narrowband....as long as you didnt get a BIG cam/major head work

you will be fine with the stock ecu until you get that turbo on there, that's exactly what i wanted to do is break it in N/A then tune with the turbo. good luck man, i know people who have been running for a LONG time that way and no cylinder wash good luck!
