Ebay kits are trash. I feel like I have answered this question about 5 times within the past 2 days. Please search. We have a thread that is titled "everything you need/want/or could want for your turbo kit"

Nitrous or Supercharger. Nitrous will only give you the power when you press the button and once the bottle is done, you can't go fast until you re-fill. I am not a fan of nitrous. Superchargers will not net you a HUGE gain, but it will definitely make the car fun to DD.
Or.....Some crazy all out NA build in addition to gutting everything... with a little nitrous.
To get any decent amount of power, you will need the car tuned. If you thought it was expensive so far.. this is another monster you will have to tackle.

My SC kit was $600 and that's cheap. Usually the Jackson Racing kits for d series go for $800-$1000. Then, you have to buy something to tune it with (between $200-$500), and then get it tuned (~$300-$400).
You'll probably want a bigger fuel pump is you boost ($100), bigger injectors ($200), exhaust kit (~$300-$400).
Also, you mention a "chip". You cannot your OBD2 ECU..you would need an OBD2a-OBD1 harness, buy an OBD1 ecu (like a p28) ($100), then get it chipped (No idea how much this costs... I bought my P28 ecu already chipped)
Nitrous, you can do cheap. However, you will need a tune for it I would assume.
With $1000, I would suggest to either save up more, or get some suspension pieces and drop the car.
