help deciding on turbo!!
00 si- b16a2 alright, i was pretty set on getting a garrett t3/t4 but i think i want something a little bigger. im not really sure though. i plan on getting rods, pistons, fuel upgrades, cams, cam gears, intake manifold, and probably new valves, springs, and retainers, also a new clutch and definatley axles. nothing crazy. this car is a daily driver and i already ordered the peakboost ac and power steeringcompatible ramhorn manifold, downpipe, and dumptube. well the other two turbos im looking at are the t3/t67 h.o. AND the t4/t67. i just dont want the spool time to be in the 3000 area because i dont want to be boosting all the time. and i plan on running it at the strip some too....help me out and also is it going to matter about the size of it since im keeping ac and ps?
Your going to be pretty happy with a t3/t04e 57 or 60 trim. Your going to have a hard time spooling much in the 3000's and will support more than enough whp for you. This would be a very efficient choice and yes size will effect your ability to keep a/c and ps. Some of the larger turbos will be tough to squeeze in there.
With the t3/t04e .60 you will reach full spool around 4400rpm and it will pull hard until redline. also it is capable of roughly 400-450hp so it should be enough to satisfy your need for speed
you really can't go wrong with that turbo.

i just dont want to be boosting at too low of rpms and loose the boost by 8k. my goals are about 300-350hp.i know the t3/t4 will fit but i am still unsure about this trim and a/r. ?
Just go with the .63 exhaust housing and you wont spool too early ever. I have a t3/to4b with close to the eqilvalent of a 60 trim which overall my compressor flows slightly less than a to4e 60 trim and I have a .48 exhaust housing. I have your exact same motor and chassis and I dont get full 10psi till close to 4500 rpm and thats at 100% full throttle. With a .63 housing you wont be able to see a pound in 5th gear on the highway, even if you floor it, till 3000 rpm. With our tranny you will be revving at 4000 rpm at 74ish mph. You would literally have to floor it for a few seconds just to see boost at all. Trust me, you want to be capable of seeing boost on the highway when you want it. It makes the motor so much more torquey and fun to drive on the freeway.
On the wheels of a turbo there are two diameters; the inducer and the exducer. Trim is the ratio between their respective diameters. A 60 trim will generally take a little longer to spool than the 57 trim, but it will create more efficient top end on the proper application.
