Default hks turbo timer questions!

i broke my damn speedo gear trying to pull off a bearing on my old limited slip. so i installed my obx limited slip speedo gear free because i was in a crunch time (arent we always). im re building the transmission in the winter so its no big deal ill just install the new on then.

but i still want a mph reader besides memorizing my rpm - mph crap.

my question is:

does the hks type 1 turbo timer run off your speedo gear for mph or do you program it to your rpm / wheel height etc....

thanks for the help hcf crew

I wish I could help you on this one but Ive never run a turbo timer in a year and half of being boosted so I really dont know anything about them. I would just go ghetto style and memorize the rpm-mph equation since your going to rebuild your tranny in a few months anyway.

Guess I should specify but what I mean as everything.

Anything and everything that reads speed of vehicle uses the speedo gear. RPM can be read a few hundred different ways, but most cars use the crank sensor. RPM isn't the same thing as speed. You will have RPM, just no MPH.
