http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/HONDA...05044832QQrdZ1

i wanted to get that, i wanted to know if it would be safe to do so, its an all stock engine with 160 km on it and all it has is an intake. also if it is what size nozzle to order as the seller send one size only (35hp/50hp/75hp/100hp)

RE: NOS on a 97 CIVIC CX??

I'd go with the 50HP nozzle.

I'd say either 50 or 75, but definately no higher than 75.

well it will wear your motor more than stock.......but if dont correctly you shouldnt experience problems.........but you are at a higher risk WITH the nitrous.

If you dont know a good amount about nitrous, then dont use it. Im led to believe you dont know what you are doing by the way that you call it NOS instead of nitrous. Yes I know it is a NOS kit, but people dont refer to nitrous as NOS in the real tuner world. NOS rates their jets at WHP (50shot = 50whp) wheras other companies like venom rate their HP gains at the crank (100shot= around 65hp).
Dont buy the kit if you arent going to use it. That would just be stupid and ricey. If you ignore my advice then please, PLEASE, let someone who knows what they are doing install it. Do NOT get a button setup, get a computer-arming switch. Also dont use any more than a 50-shot.

RE: NOS on a 97 CIVIC CX??

lol i know its nitrous its just easier to say nos :)

also i am not installing it as i am a newb, and dont want anything going wrong, also i have 2 12" with a huge box in the back of my CX so there is no room AT ALL. i didnt know where to put the tank so i bought this,

is it anygood? i thought if i changed cars (which i will soon) i can take it all out and just buy a bigger bottle right? any comments on this kit? is it missing anything?

I knew a guy who juiced an old Hyundai Elantra... or tried to anyway. I rode with him once to a meeting when we worked together, and I swear we didn't go below 95 mph the entire time. He was insanely stupid. He also drove with his hand on the shifter all the time (it was an automatic) I didn't get to see it first-hand but I hear he blew his motor when he tried to juice it. He ended up buying a '90 Prelude after that. What a tool.

Just a cautionary tale. Don't be a tool :D

oh, and in reading this thread again, i hope you havent ordered that 50 shot jet yet. on a CX, its too much. you shouldnt go over 50% extra hp from n2o from stock, and that can be pushing it. go with a 35 shot, its a lot safer.

zagross 10-12-2005 04:13 PM

RE: NOS on a 97 CIVIC CX??

no the one i got comes with shots from 35,50,75 and 100 so ill use 35, that means i will get 35HP right? and do you know how many shots a 10OZ bottle can provide?

sacicons 10-12-2005 08:48 PM

RE: NOS on a 97 CIVIC CX??

haha! on a 10 oz bottle? maybe one or two quarter mile passes. at 35 shot. and yeah, that roughly translates into HP. seriously, 2 passes is pushing it. a 10 pound bottle on a 50 shot will only be good for about 10-12 passes.

zagross 10-13-2005 03:06 PM

RE: NOS on a 97 CIVIC CX??

damn, its the only thing i can do, i mean i dont have the room for the 10lb bottles or even a 5lb in the back.

Also i think this sounds wrong:

"on a 10 oz bottle? maybe one or two quarter mile passes. at 35 shot."
"a 10 pound bottle on a 50 shot will only be good for about 10-12 passes."

isnt a 50 shot more, so how can it last 5 times more? correct me if i am wrong.

Also any ideas where i can put the 5lb bottle? if i find room i will upgrade.

And why is that, the "CX" has a Y7 in it which in turn has a Y8 bottom end. First mod I suggest is a 96-00 ex manual trans mission then a 96-00 ex intake manifol swap. The gearing in the transmission and the ability of the Y8 intake manifold to flow alot better will pull anywhere from .8 to a full second off you 1/4 miles times. Then juice it with a 50 to 75 shot wet system. But do remember it is simply not a just bolt it on and go affair either. As with any other form of FI you need to up your fuel and tune the AFR's for it.

zagross 10-16-2005 02:11 PM

RE: NOS on a 97 CIVIC CX??

what should i do about the fuel? can i just reprogram the ECU to add more fuel or what would you do? i want to keep it as low price wise as possible.
will i need new spark plugs? basically what would you recommend i change before i use the kit to keep my engine safe on a 35 or 50 shot.

also its a non vtech and i am going to get the D16Y8 head to fix that problem.

Cheap
Reliable
Fast

Pick 2 of the 3 options.

Fast and reliable, money is not too much of an issue just as long as its not some crazy amount.

You CAN tune your car with that, but i wouldnt try it without a wideband o2 sensor. Those go for about 400$
