Default ok wow

I just made a list of everything that I need to get my car on the road with a turbocharger. I didn't think it would cost this much and I am still against peicing together a kit. Anyone know how I could make this a little less costly without cheaping out?

Megan Drift Spec Cat-back: $300
Magnaflow Catalytic converter: $60
96-00 Greddy kit: $2,000
Spearcointercooler: $200
Greddy RS Blow Off Valve: $190
HKS Turbo Timer: $100
Walbro fuel pump: $95
Chipped p28: $120
Jeff Evans Tune on Neptune: $600
Y7 Steel Oil Pan: $100
Vacuum manifold: $35
Manual Boost Controler: $45

This makes me want to just get a ZEX direct port kit, Hondata s100,run a 50 shot and be done with it.

Wella turbo would be great and this would be the setup thatI really want but $3,845 for me while I'm still in high school and then going to college seems like I'm not going to be able to get that much. I have just shy of $500 right now so I don't see that happening even though I am getting a job soon.

3,845 turbo < 1,404 nitrous

It looks like a nitrous is more feasible. For how much I would use it the refills wouldn't break the bank either. I'm probably just going to wait until the end of the year before I buy anything and I will see how much money I can save.

Yeah, i agree. you outta just wait and see how much you can save. If you think about it, you'll always have boost. (so long as you pin it ha). I say boost.

+2 for piecing your own kit together, and a few other ideas

- you could get a custom catback for cheaper then $300
- i've heard ebay intercoolers will do just fine, i think StreetSniper vouched for them, so maybe it wouldnt cost you $200
- I've also heard Ebay GReddy-Type BOVs work just fine, although a true GReddy one would probbaly be better, an ebay one might get you on the road for the time being
- I've heard the OEM fuel pump is capabale of pushing 300whp, which means the only thing you need to upgrade fuel-wise is hte injectors

i think i got my facts right.....most of those things i've just read on other threads here on HCF, good luck Mobsta

ive got a few FIMC's that i dont need and i will part with,

but when i turbo'd my car i saved a few thousand by piecing it together and i'de go with doing that.

i wouldnt throw any nitrous at it until you get a good tune and have the head room with the injectors and have the bottem end that can handle that much extra cyl pressure. it wouldnt be that much extra cyl pressure but i personally dont like N2 ontop of boost from a turbo.

i would also run with S300 insted of s100... but thats me

Buying the kit is killing you, think about it, you're paying $2000 for a turbo, downpipe, manifold, and wastegate.

~400 for a good manifold with downpipe and dumptube.
~250 for an internally gated T3 turbo
~100 oil lines
~150 ebay intercooler
~175 ebay SRE piping (pipes are pipes!)
~50 DSM 450s
~80 Ebay BOV
~120 Chipped P28
~70 OBD2->OBD1 harness
~Free for Crome
~200 for a competent street tune on Crome
~300 for a good clutch

Turbocharged for less than 2000.
