It is a y8 right? If so, buy yourself a brand new oil pump, and I can hook you up with a link for modifying it to flow properly. Then you can just pull the stock one out of your motor, and slide the new one in.

Another good tip, although a bit time consuming, is swapping to a z6 head. Yes, the y8 flows better, but the z6 is much easier to work with when it comes to tuning. The timing on the y8 is annoying to say the least..

If you want to run more boost on a D16 you need to buy aftermarket rods. Everyone always talks about snapping a rod so that would be the first thing. Maybe pistons? I dont really know other than rods. And you made a good choice by sticking with the D. Who needs 2 cams?

for internal get piston, rods and valves, and get the head prted and polished. another good thing to invest in would be an aluminum radiator. aslo get new oil pump, water pump, andthermistate

I'm pretty new to the way a turbo works and what I need to do to beef up my engine. What other things do I need to AND/OR can do to "prep" my D for turbo?
Get some ARP head studs for the Y8. Building the engine only depends on how much power you want, if it's over 250 I would suggest putting in rods and pistons. You've pretty much got what you need to have some fun though.

Honestly, this is what id get if I were boosting a D again.

Custom turbo setup. 550CC injectors, walbro 255lph, ARP Headstuds, koyo or another reputable radiator, and a professional tune by a well known tuner. If you tune for 185 whp your car will be so much faster than it currently is, and youre completly in the safe zone as far as engine strain goes (Assuming you really got a good tuner) Like forty said, the y8 head can give you tuning issues, but if you go to the right tuner and they chip your ecu with a great program, youll be fine.

that is good that your building your own kit. i would recommend people did that instead of buying a kit.
