Do superchargers make the same hissing noise as turbos?

 

they make a whining(sp?) noise, or most of them do.

 

They make a noise but it isn't like a turbo spooling up. It's kind of like a whine, go to youtube and search for a supercharged car and you can hear it.

Actually superchargers can "hiss" like a turbo... its called a centrifugal type supercharger. It literally is a turbo that is pulley driven. Sounds just like a turbo and will usually have a BOV. Prochargers and Vortech Superchargers are Centrifugal types commonly found in Mustangs. The Supercharger types found on Civics will be roots styles though so they will whine, like the Jackson Racing Supercharger for example.
