Default thicker or thinner?

should i put a thicker or thinner head gasket on my car? what will the thicker one do and the same for the thinner one? will they raise or lower compression and what is the point in doing this. i read about this on here with people slaping on new gaskets but i want to know why? thanks and any info will be good to hear. Also if i put a new gasket will i be able to see my pistons, cause i have been debating taking off my oil pan to see if i have aftermarket pistons and rods. the guy i bought the car from said so but had no proof and i am the type to not take a chance on raising the boost until i know what im dealing with. thanks

a thinner head gasket will lraise the compression ratio a verry verry little bit. as will a thicker headgasket lower the compression ratio.

You should install some ARP Head Studs while you have the head off.
