Default Too many miles to boost???

if you get a car with an engine that is close to or just above 100k miles.. is it a bad idea to boost? having to reconsider my options due to cost/services of buying another used car.. i have heard some people just say to change to metal head gasket and ARP head studs with a tune up and should be fine to run boost with no prob for years.. anyone have any opinions on this?

I boosted with 150K+. As long as you have a healthy motor, it really doesn't matter how many miles you have.

do a compression and leak down test. if all goes well and the motor doesnt do anything strange then boost.

has anyone here done the leakdown/comp test? this is just the head itself right which means i can just disconn the head and take it to a machine shop for them to test?.. cuz i go through all that i might just buy the turbo cam and see about getting head work done at same time if i go this route

what they will do is take your head flit it upside down on the ground and put water ontop of the valves and then take compressed air and blow it in from the intake and exhaust side and the goal is to not have any air coming out from your valves.... As far as a leak down the piston will be at top dead center and then they will compress air into the cylinder and watch the gauge, if it holds that amount of air and doesnt drop then you have some good compression. but if it starts to go down then you are loosing compression and will hear the air either throughout the bottom end going everywere or inside the valve cover.
