Default Turbo D16y8 Project

I want to begin a custom tubo project for my 98 ex. I do have a question before I spend any money though. I have looked around so please no rude answers. When I got my car I had a custom 2 1/4 catback exhaust put on. I've read and I know that many people think that 3" is ideal for a turbo setup, BUT, will this exhaust work fine? Or will I experience problems? Basically is 3" exhaust necessary or is it just recommended?

In my opinion, 3" is overrated unless you are trying to make some serious numbers. 2 1/4 will be fine.

A good rule of thumb is to have an exhaust tube diameter about 10% larger than the turbine outlet diameter.

2 1/4 is not fine. You need atleast a 2.5 inch inside diameter. It does alot more that make more peak power, it raises your power through out the rpm's, speeds up spool time, and directly affects engine temps and tuning abilities.
