Default turbo diagnosis

I just got my mitsubishi TD05H in the mail and I got a really good deal on it but I dont know 100% if it is in good enough shape to run or if it needs a rebuild. The propeller blades spin freely and it looks like its in pretty good overall shape. My question is if there is anything else I can check or something else i should look for that would tell me if its in good enough shape to use or if I should just take it to a mechanic or something and have him look at it. help is much apreciated!

As long as the blades look like good, spin freely, and you can't move the actual center shaft, then the turbo should be good to go. If you can move the shaft/blade setup up and down or side to side, then it should probably be rebuilt, and you should kick the guy in the face that sold it to you

Thanx man! It seems pretty much perfect. I always hear about turbos that leak oil or need new seals, is there something I can check to find out if its ok in that department?

I don't believe there is, that's something that you more than likely won't know until it's all hooked up unfortunately. But if I had to guess, if theres zero shaft play, and the blades look good, chances are the rest of the innards are ok.
