Default Turbo help/details b18c1?

I checked out some integra forums and these forums, after comparing the two explanations on this website were much more helpful and easy to understand.

i have a 97 gsr, b18c1 and i wanna slap a turbo on. i know it will probably cost me a few g's, but i would like to know a few compatible turbos and differences in them before throwing down a portion of my savings. help?

Anything is compatible if you throw enough money at it. Are you looking for something easily driveable on a daily basis? How much building are you going to do on your engine? What kind of numbers are you after (though these will probably change over time)?

well my price range is about 2-3 grand, closer to two, but i'd like to be putting out quite a bit of hp, also havnt decided whether or not to do anything else first, but after all is spent and done atleast into 300+hp range. I didnt quite know what car I was getting, and havnt had to much time to research other parts, so all and all Im just tryin to get a general idea of what I should be doin. But I'd definately like to put the money into a turbo first while I still got it.

and yes, im still a student, so its my car driving back and forth from school/ practice and so forth, so without toning it down to much, daily driver friendly would be nice

put it together yourself and you can land well under the 2k mark. im not sure if a GSR can take 300hp on stock internals, you may wanna swap for some aftermarket pistons and maybe rods to be safe, and with a turbo and internals you will get to your 2k mark. just look around for good quality stuff and make sure theyre at decent prices and you will be good.

even thou it might be a little higher then my price range, wouldnt have to worry bout quality if say i was to get a new greddy kit, and pistons. what kinda gains would i be lookin at?
any advised ratios for the pistons? 9.8:1 ? 9.0:1? 11.0:1? ---or more so, a short explanation on this

you dont have to worry about quality stuff if you search for stuff yourself for your turbo...when you start looking post up here and we'll be able to tell you whats quality and what isnt and help you find stuff. unless you can find a greddy kit for under 1500 like pete did, dont worry about kits.

as for compression ratio...mid nines are fairly standard for high boost apps, but i know there are people out there running 15psi on an 11.5 compression ratio...but you have to build the **** out of your car to be able to do that.

even tho i only looked breifly on ebay, i didnt find many turbos for a gsr, probably because i wasnt being to specific, any key words i should be lookin for, t3/t4, piping, no car specific, stuff like that? i just looked for turbo or greddy or turbo kit for acura integra 94 - 00
and yea. definately would be nice to find one for 1500 rather then 2.8g's [&:]

dont look for whole kits. look for a GSR manifold, T3/T4 turbo, Tial 44mm wastegate, 4" downpipe, spearco intercooler, and any BOV, HKS and GReddy are preferred around here.

then just buy various mandral bent piping and you can custom make the charge piping.

edit: actually, a T25 or T28 would prolly be better for your application.

how does this sound:
:skunk Manifold 228.00
Tial 44mm Wastegate 382.50
Spearco intercooler 120.00
BOV 72.00
Greddy T25/T28 Turbo 250.00
JDM Mandrel bent piping 99.99
not having any luck on finding a 4" downpipe or even one that says its compatible with a t25/t28

but without downpipe it comes to a nice $1152.49 thats alot less then 2.8k kit, let me know if im lettin somethin out, and what u think
and thnx for the help
