turbo in the winter?
 

im planning on going turbo with my civic and paying a pretty penny the right way (not sure what turbo set up) its a 98 civic ex and i was just wondering if it would hurt it if i drove in the winter? DD.. good idea?bad idea? thanks

look at it like this, your car is tuned to a specific temp at WOT and full boost, drop the temp 50+ degrees and your going to run lean as heck.

i run 2.5psi in the winter just to be safe. its annoyingly slow, but i cant be tempted to be pushing 120+mph with my blizzaks lol.

imo, turn your boost down 3-5 psi and youll be good. if you dont have a boost controller just buy a spring for 30 bucks... its easy as pie to change those in and out.

so to answer your q, yes, drive it all you want nothing will be hurt as long as you are smart about it and realize colder air gives you a lot more power than your tuned for.

should be just fine. i drove my 230 whp teg all winter long and had no problems. of coarse i didnt get on it at all bc of traction but if you drive nicely you will be fine

There are ways to tune the car so it will adjust for different iats corresponding to different outside temps but if you tune it in the cold it will run well in the cold, tune it in the heat it will run well in the heat.

yeah thats why you just use an ostrich version 2.0 it does live tuning and it will adjust it as you go.
