Turboing a 97 LX
PSI doesnt mean anything. Depends on the size of the turbo. 7PSI on a small turbo will make like 175 whp on youre motor, whereas a bigger turbo will make much more @ the same PSI. Id say 175-200 WHP is safe on your motor, but the lower the WHP the safer you will be. If its your daily driver id shoot for the 175-180 whp range. That will be good for high 13 low 14 quarter mile passes, and wont beat up on your motor too much. Tuning the cars air to fuel ratio is the key. The better the tune is, the better your car will perform and the longer it will last.
One thing you don't want to miss out on is fuel management. In that car you have a few options, but it being OBD2 kinda makes your options scarce....1: you can convert to OBD1 and a chipped ECU....that makes your car emissions ILLEGAL but works fine. 2: AEM EMS...works fine, but costs 5 times the cost of a chipped OBD1 ECU.
