What is it about car crashes that fascinates us?

OWWWWWWWWWWWWW. And again, I say OWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW. My dad's seen some nasty crashes in his stint as a truck driver. He told me about one that was particularly nasty. He was driving down the interstate in TN in the right hand lane and a car full of kids comes flying around him, passing him at about 110. He used to be a cop and knows his speeds pretty well. They apparently were coming up on a car too fast in the left lane and tried to duck in front of him to avoid a collision. They realized that they couldn't do that either without hitting the car in front and jerked the wheel to the left. They flipped the car and the bodies flew out into traffic travelling in the opposite direction. My dad watched the 4 or 5 bodies get MANGLED by traffic going about 80, and people trying to brake wound up running their cars off the road and piling up. He actually had to take the rest of the day off because it bothered him so much.

 

I think he did that on purpose! And the guy in the far lane said F-you, I aint stoppin for nobody!

The horrificness of them.

 

I've been to my fair share of drag races and have seen plenty of those. I watched a pro-stock car just like that roll going 200 mph and get ripped into pieces. And a top-fuel dragster engines blow up on the line. That one wasn't so good when parts of the engine flew into the stands. Luckily those things are the safest things ever with the roll cages they have.
